Brandstories is a commercial photography studio based in Wanaka, New Zealand. We work with product brands, professional services, and businesses across New Zealand. Building imagery that's planned, directed, and delivered to campaign standard.
We didn't set out to build a studio. We set out to solve a problem - and kept going because the work demanded it.
The Person Behind the Studio
I'm Anda Bulgakova. I run Brandstories and I'm the person you'll work with from the first conversation to the moment your gallery lands in your inbox.
What started as picking up a camera to help someone else turned into a genuine obsession with the technical craft of commercial photography — the refinement, the quality, the intentionality behind every frame.
That obsession hasn't gone anywhere. It's in every project we take on.
My background is in food and wine photography across Central Otago and the South Island. That's where I learned to work fast, work deliberately, and build a brief that actually holds up on the day of the shoot. Those habits didn't stay in the wine industry - they came with me.
What a Brandstories Project Looks Like
Every project starts with a brief. Not a mood board Pinterest dump - an actual brief. What the brand is, who it's for, what the imagery needs to do, and where it's going to live.
From there, we plan the shoot properly. Locations, shot list, styling direction, logistics. The pre-production work is what separates imagery that performs from imagery that just exists.
On the day, we execute against the brief - with room for the moments that can't be planned. And after that, a retouched, campaign-ready gallery delivered on time.
