How a Food Shoot Works?
Brief, Styling & Planning
Every food photography project starts with a conversation and a written brief: what the images are for, where they will run, and how the food should look. From there we plan the styling, props and location, so the shoot day stays focused on the food.
Shoot Day
On the day, we photograph to achieve the vision. Either in natural light or using artificial lights to enhance the textures and colours of the subject. Whether it’s a studio set-up, your own venue, the planning we did before keeps the day calm and the food in focus.
Delivery
You receive a final set of edited, colour-accurate food shots, ready for your website, menus, e-commerce and campaigns.
Food Photography FAQ's
What is true-to-colour food photography? Colour that matches the real dish. No de-saturation, adding a preset changing the yellows and greens, so customers get what they saw. It is achieved by lighting the scene in the right way and retouching with presition
Do you offer food photography outside Wānaka? Yes. Brandstories is based in Wanaka and shoots throughout New Zealand, including Queenstown, Christchurch and Auckland. Or you can send product down to my home studio and I can execute the brief from Wanaka
Who do you shoot food photography for? Food brands, restaurants and hospitality venues, and the agencies or in-house marketing teams that work for them. Work switches between e-commerce photos, styled food imagery and lifestyle content for food and drinks.
Do you offer Recipe Development? Unfortunately I do not, my work is solely focused on lighting the scene and capturing the right angles, with support of props and styling
